In 2003 the Duwel Company, LLC hired D.J. Maltese to develop a conceptual estimate for a proposed new elementary school to be built in Northville, Michigan. The project started out as a two story building with all the amenities required for a new elementary school. Over the course of about one year and through changes required by the local government the project was redesigned to include a one story building with a walk-out lower level of about 77,000 SF.
Early in 2004 the Duwel Company, LLC negotiated a contract with D.J. Maltese to provide on-site supervision, develop and bid the project, prepare contract documents and manage the accounting for the project. This project was completed in about seventeen months, on schedule and ten percent under budget.
